Pilot Guide

What You Need

  • Modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (Gamepad API support required)
  • USB or Bluetooth gamepad — Xbox controller recommended. PlayStation controllers and generic USB gamepads also work.
  • Stable internet — for real-time video and control latency

Finding Jobs

  1. Go to the Job Board
  2. Browse open jobs — filter by bot type, pay, or tags
  3. Click a job to see the full description, bot details, and control layout
  4. Click "Apply to Pilot" and include a short message
  5. The owner reviews applications and accepts the best fit

Piloting a Bot

Once accepted for a job:

  1. Go to the job page — you'll see a "Start Piloting Session" button
  2. Connect your gamepad before clicking start
  3. The pilot interface opens with:
    • Video feed — live camera from the bot
    • Control overlay — shows what each button/stick does
    • Session timer — tracks elapsed time
    • Gamepad status — shows if your controller is detected
    • Live input display — shows axis values and button presses in real-time
  4. Complete the task described in the job
  5. Click "End Session" — optionally add notes
  6. Leave a review of the owner/bot experience

Controller Tips

Xbox Controller
  • Works natively via USB or Bluetooth
  • Best compatibility — BotPyle's schemas are designed for Xbox layout
  • Xbox Wireless Adapter recommended for wireless
PlayStation Controller
  • DS4/DualSense work via USB or Bluetooth
  • Button indices may differ — check the control overlay
  • Some browsers need the controller connected before page load

Building Your Reputation

  • Complete jobs reliably to earn positive reviews
  • Your pilot rating (visible to owners) is a running average of all reviews
  • Higher-rated pilots get accepted more often for paid jobs
  • Start with free/volunteer jobs to build experience before taking paid work
