Pilot Guide
What You Need
- Modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (Gamepad API support required)
- USB or Bluetooth gamepad — Xbox controller recommended. PlayStation controllers and generic USB gamepads also work.
- Stable internet — for real-time video and control latency
Finding Jobs
- Go to the Job Board
- Browse open jobs — filter by bot type, pay, or tags
- Click a job to see the full description, bot details, and control layout
- Click "Apply to Pilot" and include a short message
- The owner reviews applications and accepts the best fit
Piloting a Bot
Once accepted for a job:
- Go to the job page — you'll see a "Start Piloting Session" button
- Connect your gamepad before clicking start
- The pilot interface opens with:
- Video feed — live camera from the bot
- Control overlay — shows what each button/stick does
- Session timer — tracks elapsed time
- Gamepad status — shows if your controller is detected
- Live input display — shows axis values and button presses in real-time
- Complete the task described in the job
- Click "End Session" — optionally add notes
- Leave a review of the owner/bot experience
Controller Tips
Xbox Controller
- Works natively via USB or Bluetooth
- Best compatibility — BotPyle's schemas are designed for Xbox layout
- Xbox Wireless Adapter recommended for wireless
PlayStation Controller
- DS4/DualSense work via USB or Bluetooth
- Button indices may differ — check the control overlay
- Some browsers need the controller connected before page load
Building Your Reputation
- Complete jobs reliably to earn positive reviews
- Your pilot rating (visible to owners) is a running average of all reviews
- Higher-rated pilots get accepted more often for paid jobs
- Start with free/volunteer jobs to build experience before taking paid work
